About us

Knowledge Latitude is an authorized distributor for the world well known portable domes from e-Planetarium. Our planetarium shows are truly immersive because they present the viewer with images, in front, behind, above and on both sides of their seat. Students love these shows, and they are a great vehicle to teach Earth and space science.

Discovery Dome

Discovery Dome started in 1998 after two wild and crazy ladies, Dr. Carolyn Sumners of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Dr. Patricia Reiff of Rice University, won funding under one of NASA’s first Cooperative Agreements, to create the world’s first full-dome digital earth science planetarium shows. In December 1998, they opened the first fulldome multiprojector planetarium in the U.S., using Digital Sky from SkySkan. In 2003 the duo won another NASA competition, this time to make it the technology affordable for small museums and school districts.

Their first portable system debuted at the December 2003 AGU meeting, using fisheye projectors from Elumenati. Never afraid of new technology, the domes now offer mirror projection as a lower-cost alternative to fisheye systems. Their tireless efforts to make the technology affordable has resulted in the growth of the Discovery Dome network from its initial 6 partners in 2003 to over 40 locations in 13 countries.

E-Planetarium Portable Domes Features:

- Unlike other inflatable domes, the Dome is designed and developed to meet today’s digital technology.
- It’s durable, lightweight for easy transport.
- Ours was the first with this special airlock doorway.
- The dome was designed at full-height to allow easy "walk-in" entry with minimum air loss per admittance.
- Even wheelchairs can enter through the door with minimum loss of air and without disturbing a show in progress.

NEW Newtonian Projection System

It is a low-cost projection option to fisheye or other mirror systems. It is compact and lightweight for portable systems, and is a perfect solution for small planetariums who want to keep their existing mechanical-optical star projector and offer digital movie content.

Fisheye projection systems

e-Planetarium™ offers a variety of OmniFocus™ projection systems from Elumenati™, providing an extremely wide field of view (ranging between 135 and 210 degrees). The image quality is even, remains in-focus, clear and capable of illuminating an entire dome from a single source due to unique patented equal-angular projection design.

Discover the Difference!

Fulldome Video with Sound
museum-quality fulldome shows are available on all science topics; project a dynamic night sky with stars, planets, constellations, and more.

Upgradeable Components
highe-end off-the-shelf components can be upgraded as new projector or computer technology is released - never be stuck with old technology again!

High Definition Resolution
true 1920x1080 gives sharp, vivid, images which fill virtually the entire dome!

Double the Pixels!
almost twice as many pixels projected as Digital Starlab or the new Digitarium Gamma from Digitalis! (They use only a 1080 circle - we use all 1920 across. See the comparison chart for details.)

Walk-in Dome
stand up entry, no crawling required; continuous entry and exit without disrupting a show; handicapped accessilble! Special flap to allow projection even on the doorway.

Custom Projection Surface
minimizes wrinkles, crosstalk, and sound echoes. Self-closing vents allow ventilation without bouncing; resists deflation when large groups exit.

Highly Mobile
fast set up (less than 20 minutes), easy to operate, lightweight, easy for one person to carry in a compact car or check as airline luggage.

Ease of Use
MediaSHOW is designed for ease of use in having full control of images, movies, sequences, and clips. Training takes just a few minutes and is included in the price.

Open Source Astronomy
Stellarium is a collaborative software application that uses the talents of the entire community to provide the best software!
